The Bopal police on Friday arrested a man after allegedly intercepting a Maruti Suzuki Eeco loaded with illicit Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) hidden inside car's body panel, during patrolling in the Ghuma area, officials said.
Under the guidance of Bopal Police Inspector B T Gohil, a patrol team was deployed in the police station limits when a constable received a tip-off about a suspicious vehicle parked behind Sky Sol Flats in Ghuma village.
Acting on the information, the team located a white Maruti Suzuki Eeco and detained its driver.
A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 79 bottles of assorted IMFL brands valued at ₹58,315, a Vivo mobile phone worth ₹5,000, and the Eeco vehicle itself valued at ₹2 lakh. The total seizure amounted to ₹2.63 lakh, police said.
The arrested accused was identified as Chandu Khokhriya, a resident of Udaipur district, Rajasthan.
Police said further investigation is under way to determine the source and intended distribution of the seized liquor.
