Bharuch MP Mansukh Vasava has once again brought attention to the issue of illegal sand mining in the district.
In a letter addressed to the district collector, the MP highlighted ongoing illegal activities in various areas, sparking renewed debate over the matter.
According to the letter, illegal sand mining is rampant in regions like Shuklatirth and Bhalod in Zagadia taluka, located along the banks of the Narmada River.
Vasava noted that despite raising the issue during district coordination meetings, illegal mining activities continue unabated.
Complaints have also been received about similar activities in other areas, including Panetha, Asa, and Umalla. The MP has urged the administration to take immediate action to curb the menace.
The issue has already ignited political tensions in Bharuch. On Tuesday, AAP MLA Chaitar Vasava was detained after leading an unauthorized protest march against illegal sand mining. A case has since been registered against him.
Illegal sand mining remains a critical environmental and political concern in the district, with repeated calls for stricter enforcement and accountability.
