Arthroscopy of the jaw joint called temporo mandibular joint surgery in Vadodara

On Saturday for the first time, a surgical workshop was held at Sayaji Hospital on arthroscopy of the jaw joint called temporo mandibular joint. This corrective surgery is a very complicated medical procedure involving the camera about the size of 1.9 mm.

Expert doctor Dr. Nehal Patel from Surat performed the live surgery on three patients all ladies suffering from various problems related to jaw joints. "The joints are very small in size and it's technically very difficult to perform the surgery. Time period is about one to one and half hours but it needs precision as well as proper equipments which the SSG hospital has, " Said Dr. Patel.

He further added that there are lots of reasons including age related for this problem. The sign are pain in front of the ear, sound while opening the mouth and pain in normal eating. With this TMJ Arthroscopy they perform the corrective surgery on patients.Co

Dr. Ranjan Aiyer said, this one day training workshop was attended by about 80 doctors from various departments. Dr. Nehal Patel performed the surgeries on three women and after intensive physiotherapy and other treatments they will be discharged. It's a great learning process for all as with such workshops we can perform such surgeries on our own.
