Arrest warrant against BJP MLA Hardik Patel in 2018 Patidar reservation agitation case

The Ahmedabad Rural Court has issued an arrest warrant against Viramgam Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Hardik Patel, along with two others, in connection with a case registered during the Patidar reservation movement.

The warrant was issued after the accused repeatedly failed to appear for court hearings.

As per reports, the case was registered in 2018 during Hardik Patel’s hunger strike agitation.

The FIR named three people — Hardik Patel, Geeta Patel, and Kiran Patel.

Earlier too, arrest warrants had been issued against Hardik Patel in cases related to the Patidar agitation. With the court now adopting a strict stance, police will proceed with arresting Hardik Patel and the other two accused.

Following the court’s order, the police will now begin the process of seeking approval from the Assembly Speaker, Shankar Chaudhary. If permission is granted, the police can legally arrest Hardik Patel.
