Ankleshwar: 62 Goats rescued from cruel transport on NH-48, truck driver arrested

In a significant action against animal cruelty, the Ankleshwar B Division Police rescued 62 goats that were being inhumanely transported in a truck on National Highway No. 48 near Mandwa Toll Plaza.

The animals were reportedly found tied up in a cruel manner inside the vehicle.

Acting on a tip-off, police personnel set up surveillance near the toll plaza and intercepted the truck bearing registration number GJ 24 V 8648.

Upon inspection, the authorities discovered the goats cramped and tied in conditions violating animal welfare norms.

The police arrested the truck driver and identified him as Kamruddin Mayuddin Nagori, a resident of Siddhpur in Patan district.

Another individual, Mehdi Ali, believed to be responsible for loading the goats, has been declared absconding and is currently wanted by police.

A case has been registered under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, and legal proceedings are underway. Authorities have confirmed that the rescued goats are now under proper care and veterinary supervision.
