The building was sealed four times, but even after the seal was broken, construction continued, and residents began living in it.
Notably, by 2020, the AMC had sought police protection for demolition on six occasions, and again five times in 2025, totalling 11 requests.
Eventually, on Monday morning, with police presence, the demolition of the building began, a process expected to continue for another two to three days.
The building was constructed six years ago thumbing the noses of municipal officials. Civic officials However, their response was limited to issuing notices and sealing the property.
In 2019, Salim Jumma Khan had approached the Gujarat High Court against AMC’s actions, and no orders were passed on that case for the past six years.
Five months ago, during a Legal Committee meeting, it was recommended that action should be taken against officials who failed to demolish Sana-7 and similar illegal constructions despite the absence of any court stay.
Yet, even after five months, the AMC has not issued even a single show-cause notice to any official, nor has it made any inquiry into the matter.
