Ahmedabad's active Covid cases down to 197 after 2.5 months

With the discharge of 51 Covid patients against 28 new cases, the number of active cases in Ahmedabad dropped below 200 to 197. Across Gujarat, against 57 new Covid cases, 111 patients were discharged, bringing down the active cases to 608. It is the lowest since December 22 or in about two-and-a-half months.

Ahmedabad recorded almost half of the daily cases, whereas six major cities of Gujarat accounted for 74% or nearly three-fourth of daily cases. It indicated reduction of Covid cases in non-urban areas, said experts, while also pointing out that the daily cases have also got reduced to 40,000-45,000 for over past fortnight. Nine out of 33 districts had zero active cases on Thursday morning.

Gujarat in 24 hours vaccinated 9,850 persons for the first dose and 68,775 for the second.

In all, 5.2 crore people have been administered the first dose of Covid vaccine and 4.94 crore, the second. The state also administered 11,354 booster doses.
