Ahmedabad sizzles at 41.5 degrees Celsius, heatwave for 2 days

Gandhinagar registered maximum temperature of 41.2°C. Eleven of 26 weather stations in Gujarat had maximum temperature above 40°C.

The city was the second hottest weather station in Gujarat at 41.5°C on Wednesday. It was beaten only by Kandla, which recorded 41.8°C. Maximum temperature was 5.9 degrees higher than normal, said an IMD forecast.

The forecast said that maximum temperature will remain around 41°C on Thursday. Minimum temperature will be about 24°C; on Wednesday, it was 24.6°C.

"No large change in maximum temperatures during the next 48 hours, then gradual fall by 2-3°C during subsequent 3 days likely," IMD said.

The forecast said that heatwave conditions will continue to prevail in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Kheda, Anand, Vadodara, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Patan, Mehsana, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Rajkot, Surendranagar, Junagadh, Gir Somnath, and Kutch on Thursday. In Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Kheda, Anand, Vadodara, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Patan, and Mehsana, the condition will prevail on Friday.
