Amdavadis struggled to get going on Wednesday as they faced the season's hottest day at 45.8°C, surpassing 44.4°C recorded on April 28.
In fact, it was the hottest May day in the past six years, and the second hottest May day in at least the past 10 years eclipsed only by 48°C recorded on May 20 in 2016.
The city usually witnesses a maximum temperature of around 44°C in May.
The hottest day of the month is invariably recorded in the second half of the month.
However, this year, the hottest days of April and May were recorded in the first half of the month.
