The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) will host the annual International Flower Show at the Sabarmati Riverfront from January 1 to 25. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel will inaugrate the event on Thursday morning.

This year’s exhibition is spread across 73,000 square metres at the Event Centre and Flower Garden on the western bank of the riverfront, between Sardar Bridge and Swami Vivekanand Bridge.

The show is themed ‘Bharat: Ek Gatha (India: A Saga)’, highlighting India’s culture, traditions, and modern achievements.

According to civic officials, the exhibition features over 167 floral sculptures and uses more than one million flowers and plants from 48 different species, selected to suit Indian climatic conditions.

The Flower Show has been divided into six themed zones. These include depictions of Indian festivals with a special focus on Diwali, zones dedicated to Indian dance forms and mythological India, and a children’s entertainment area.

A special zone has been earmarked for a Guinness World Records attempt, showcasing the largest flower portrait of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his 150th birth anniversary, along with a massive mandala art installation made entirely of flowers.

Another zone highlights India’s achievements in space and other sectors.

Ticket prices have been fixed at ₹80 on weekdays and ₹100 on weekends and public holidays. Entry is free for children below 12 years, AMC school students, persons with disabilities, soldiers, and journalists.

Other school students can visit during morning hours for ₹10, while a ₹500 ‘Prime Slot’ ticket has been introduced for visitors seeking a less crowded experience.

The total cost of organising the event is estimated at ₹14 crore to 15 crore, officials said, adding that sponsorships and stalls are expected to generate significant revenue. The Flower Show is also projected to create large-scale direct and indirect employment and provide a boost to Ahmedabad’s tourism and local economy.
