A Mumbai-bound flight from Delhi, operated by low-cost carrier Akasa Air, made an emergency landing at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) airport in Ahmedabad on Monday following a bomb threat.

Sources confirmed that a bomb threat note was found aboard the flight after which necessary safety procedures were initiated by the pilot.

Akasa Air's flight Q departed from Delhi at 8.40am, carrying 186 passengers, an infant and six crew members.

During the flight, the airline received a security alert and, in accordance with prescribed safety and security procedures, made an emergency landing at the SVPI airport at 10.13am.

Sources confirmed that the passengers are currently stationed at the airport and further investigation is underway.

There have been three similar incidents over the past three days involving other carriers.
