Ahmedabad city police need no vigilante in a mask and cape as they have a shapeless, stronger and sharper ally to fight crime even before it happens artificial intelligence.

Using AI, police have arrived at a prediction of likely crimes in the city and where these could take place.

The aim is to use such patterns to identify crime hot spots and deploy the required resources like intensifying patrolling or measures like ramping up technical surveillance.

The ultimate objective remains improved law enforcement for a safer city

According to the prediction for this month, Chandkheda and Khokhra show a higher likelihood of two-wheeler thefts on Wednesday and Friday nightsrespectively.

The AI model tells police teams to be proactive in Rakhial, especially on Monday nights and Maninagar on Tuesday mornings as it lists these areas as chain snatching hot spots.

Prohibition enforcement teams will know beforehand where to sniff for illicit booze business and when, thanks to the pattern predictor.

For April, the algorithms point to Meghaninagar (on Tuesday evenings to Wednesday mornings) and Nikol (on Thursday evenings).

Insights show that all these crimes are more likely to occur near places of worship belonging to Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and Christians as more people gather at these religious places.

To counter these threats, the model advises police to boost their presence at the hotspots and install CCTV cameras.

The model also suggests enhancing patrolling by PCR units in these areas and placing check posts strategically, particularly during events.
