The city civic body recently issued a notice to the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd (GCMMF) to recover Rs 10 crore as a deposit amount for operating 200 gardens in the city.
Sources said a year and a half ago, the AMC's standing committee had selected GCMMF, which sells milk products under its brand name Amul, to maintain 200 gardens in Ahmedabad on a private public-partnership (PPP) basis.
GCMMF was selected for the tender, and the standing committee had asked the federation to deposit Rs 10 crore - Rs 5 lakh per garden. However, even after eight months, the money is unpaid.
