The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) announced the results of the supplementary exams for Classes 10 and 12 on Monday.
Of the 1.80 lakh students who took the exams, 62,000 passed, while 65.55% or 1.18 lakh students failed.
The pass rates were 28.29% for Class 10, 49.26% for the Class 12 general stream, and 30.48% for the Class 12 science stream.
Around 75,000 students failed in Class 10, about 25,000 students failed in the Class 12 general stream while around 18,000 students failed in Class 12 science stream.
The supplementary exams were held in June-July.
For Class 10, 128,337 students registered, 104,429 appeared for the exam and 29,542 passed.
Class 10 students with physical disabilities were given a 20% passing benefit, with 191 passing.
Female students outperformed male students in the Class 10 results. Out of 65,737 male students who appeared, 16,943 passed, resulting in a 25.77% pass rate.
Out of 38,692 female students who appeared, 12,599 passed, resulting in a 32.56% pass rate. In the Sanskrit prathama exam, 35 out of 46 students passed.
In the Class 12 science supplementary exam, 26,927 students registered, 26,716 took the exam, and 8,143 passed, resulting in a 30.48% pass rate.
In the science stream, 5,588 students appeared in group A, with 1,874 passing, resulting in a 33.54% pass rate.
In group B, 21,122 students appeared, with 6,266 passing, resulting in a 29.67% pass rate. In group AB, three out of a total of six students passed.
In the Class 12 general stream, 56,459 students registered, 49,122 took the exam, and 24,196 passed, resulting in an overall pass rate of 49.26%.
The pass rates for the Class 12 general stream were 49.28%, for the vocational stream 27.91%, and for the higher secondary stream 48.54%.
The supplementary exam for Sanskrit Madhyama had a 100% pass rate, with all 16 students who appeared passing.
