Ahmedabad: 114 litres of country liquor ferried on scooter!

Imagine carrying 114 litres of a liquid on a two-wheeler! A bootlegger from Mehsana tipped the balance against himself when he made an ambitious attempt to ferry a good 57 two-litre pouches of country liquor on his gearless scooter.
The overloaded bootlegger was apparently too conspicuous on the road with his bulging stock and was apprehended by police.
Detroj police of Ahmedabad district arrested a man for transporting 114 litres of country liquor on his scooter in the wee hours of Sunday.
Bhavesh Thakor, 34, a resident of Balasar village in Kadi taluka, Mehsana district, was intercepted by a police patrol near Jivapura Patiya in Detroj.
They checked the sacks and found that he was hiding twp-litre pouches of country liquor. The cops counted the pouches and found a total of 57, for a total of 114 litres.
The estimated value of the seized liquor is Rs 2,280, the cops said.
Thakor has been charged under the prohibition laws, which strictly regulate the possession, sale and transportation of alcoholic beverages in the state.
