Ahmedabad: 10L fine for dumping debris on road

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has imposed a fine of Rs 10 lakh on a contractor for dumping construction debris on the side of the road he had resurfaced in Gota.

Officials from the solid waste management department found that the contractor who was tasked with resurfacing a stretch near Vasant Nagar Township between SP Ring Road and SG Highway, dumped the construction debris after completing the work.

The fine will be recovered from the contractor’s security deposit, a statement from the AMC said.

Meanwhile, AMC’s revenue department on Friday sealed 231 properties for non-payment of property tax.
