The city registered two Covid-19 cases on Friday after more than a week.

The new cases were detected from 150 tests conducted during the 24 hours ending on Friday evening.

The city had last reported Covid-19 cases on December 15 when two persons had tested positive.

After this, no new cases were reported in the city till Friday.

The new cases were reported from the Gorwa and Harni areas of the city. Against the new cases, one person was also discharged on Friday.

The number of active cases in the city now stands at four. All the active cases had mild symptoms and two of them were in home isolation while two others were admitted to hospital.

Sources in the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) said that the city had been reporting three or four cases in a week for the past couple of months.

An official pointed out that one or two cases reported in a day was not a major cause of concern, but that they were vigilant regarding any possible rise.

Since the pandemic began, 1,00,861 Covid-19 cases have been reported in the city. Of these, 544 persons succumbed to the virus infection. Eight persons who were close contacts of the positive cases have been quarantined.

SSG Hospital and GMERS Hospital conducted an audit of their oxygen generators on Friday as a precautionary measure.
