Daily cases increased by 23% from 128 to 157 in Ahmedabad, and by 7% in Gujarat from 347 to 367.

Eight districts and one city recorded zero new positive cases.

"While the rise in cases is not significant, the bottom line is that vigil needs to be maintained for a few more days.

Apart from Ahmedabad and Vadodara, almost everywhere the cases have reduced drastically. The mortality is also down in the past few days, which is a positive sign," said a city-based critical care specialist.

"In Ahmedabad, the number of hospitalized patients is below 20 in private hospitals and below 30 in government-run hospitals." In the past 24 hours, Gujarat vaccinated 23,418 people for the first dose and 1.44 lakh for the second.

In all, 5.19 crore have been administered the first and 4.84 crore the second dose of Covid vaccine.
