A mellifluous tribute to martyrs of Nahi

Sudarshan Chakra Division and the local populace have geared up for a 10 days long celebrations to mark 50 years of India's victory in epic Battle of Nagi, 1971 with traditional fervor at Sri Ganganagar and Sri Karanpur in Rajasthan.

On 25/26 December 1971, Pakistan, had occupied Indian territory at Nagi, after announcement of the ceasefire on 16 December 1971. Nagi witnessed one of the fiercest battles along the Western Front wherein our forces played a pivotal role in blunting Pakistan's attempt to gain territory. The battle epitomizes the true ethos of Indian Army, wherein 21 Brave Hearts made the supreme sacrifice and defended the honour of the nation.

Nagi Day celebrations will include multiple events organized by Indian Army and citizen forum of Sri Ganganagar to pay gratitude to martyrs and sensitize the youth about the symbolic relationship between the Army and local community. On 24 December 2021, a 10 Km adventurous run close to the Indo Pak Border was organized. A Painting Competition open to all citizens of India is being conducted on online platform seeking entries across the country from 01 December to 25 December 2021.

On 27 December 2021, the war heroes and next of kin of soldiers martyred during the battle will be felicitated during a cultural event wherein the Battle of Nagi will be recreated in the form of a Laser Show. A mass band display will also be organized who will be playing the martial tunes with an aim to pay tribute to the brave-hearts. The event is planned to be attended by gallant veterans, serving personnel, civil dignitaries, media person & families of army personnel.

The grand culmination of 'Nagi Day' event will take place on 28 December 2021 at 'Nagi War Memorial', which is considered as a sacred monument by the local community. Events will include wreath laying at the War Memorial by senior Army officials to pay homage to the martyrs. The event will be graced by War Veterans and Veer Naris of the battle.
