60 Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation officers to monitor cleaning
These teams will be headed by assistant commissioners
The Ahmedabad civic body chief on Saturday assigned 60 officials the duties to take rounds at night in various areas and monitor road sweeping activity.
M Thennarasan, the Ahmedabad municipal commissioner through a circular has formed four teams of officials from departments such as health, solid waste management and engineering.
These teams will be headed by assistant commissioners.
The circular states that these officials will have to take rounds across the city from 10pm to 6am every night and ensure that the roads are being swept properly.
The officials have been asked to also visit major hospitals, public gardens, public places such as Kankaria Lake, Sabarmati Riverfront and also sewage treatment plants and water pumping stations. The duty schedule is for the next one fortnight.
The officials have also been asked to monitor whether the assigned employees are present at their jobs, streetlights are working properly, check and identify garbage nuisance spots in the city and also get these spots cleared.
The teams will also monitor road resurfacing and new road construction. The heads of the teams will have to prepare a daily report and submit it to the commissioner.
On Friday, the commissioner made sudden visits to various roads and had found many spots with heaps of garbage.
