A collision between two cars near Sandhida village on the Dholera Expressway in Gujarat has claimed the lives of five people, including four members of a family. Three others were injured.
The accident—between a Scorpio heading from Bhavnagar to Ahmedabad, and a Kia Seltos travelling in the opposite direction—occurred around 2.30 pm on Monday.
The impact of the crash was so intense that one of the vehicles was completely crushed, while the other rolled multiple times before landing off-road.
Ashok Dobariya (50), his brother Gaurav Dobariya (45), and Gaurav’s son Tirth (19) — residents of Ahmedabad’s Science City area — died on the spot. Gordhan Dobariya (72) and Disha Parbatani (40) succumbed to their injuries during treatment at the Sir Takhtasinhji General Hospital in Bhavnagar.
Yana Parbatani (17), Narendra Dobariya (61), and Ramji Dhediya (70) were admitted to a private hospital in Bhavnagar for their injuries.
According to statements from the survivors, the victims were returning to Ahmedabad after attending a post-death ritual in Shanti Nagar village, Mahuva.
Their vehicle reportedly lost control and collided with an oncoming car near Sandhida village.
Locals rushed to the scene, broke open the car doors, pulled out the victims and transported them to nearby hospitals.
