During a late-night checking drive in Una’s Nawabandar area, the Gir-Somnath SOG and local police received a tip-off about three unknown men staying inside Madina Mosque.

Acting swiftly, a team led by Nawabandar Marine Police Station in-charge PI H L Jebaliya reached the spot and detained three men — Maqsood Ahmed Khalid Husain (37) and Maqsood Ahmed Abdul Latif (31), both residents of Moharabasiya village in Poonch district, and Javed Ahmed Mohammed Rasheed Chauhan (40) from Chandak village, also in Poonch.

During questioning, the trio claimed they had travelled to Gujarat to collect donations for a madrasa and had earlier visited Diu.

Police verification further revealed that Javed Ahmed Chauhan’s brother is serving in the Jammu & Kashmir Police. Authorities have seized their documents and launched further investigation.

Police have also registered a case against the mosque’s administrator for giving shelter to unknown individuals without verification, and he has been taken into custody for violating notification norms.

T N Mangrol, Junagadh SOG acted on another tip-off and raided a local hotel where two more Kashmiri men were staying.

The men were identified as Junaid Ahmed Mohammed Azad Mukrani (27) and his brother Niyaz Ahmed Mohammed Azad Mukrani (20), both from Phagla village in Surankote tehsil of Poonch district.

They, too, claimed they had come to Gujarat seeking donations for a madrasa. Hotel records showed that they had submitted Aadhaar cards while booking the room, and their documents were found to be in order. Both have been taken to Junagadh for detailed questioning.
