A total of 4.8 crore voters of Gujarat will exercise their franchise on Tuesday, as voting will take place for 25 of the 26 Lok Sabha and five assembly seats of the state. Voting will be open from 7 am to 6 pm.

Polling will not take place on the Surat LS seat, as the BJP candidate has been declared uncontested winner after the nomination paper of the Congress candidate was rejected and others in the fray withdrew their candidature.

BJP is looking to sweep the Lok Sabha polls for a third consecutive time by winning all the LS seats in the home state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah.

Congress and AAP, which have a seat-sharing agreement, are looking to put up a spirited contest in some seats.

Along with elections for 25 Lok Sabha seats, byelections are slated for five assembly seats: Khambhat, Vijapur, Waghodia, Porbandar, and Manavadar.
