The sacred town of Ambaji is set for a week of devotion as Bhadarvi Purnima fair begins from Monday.
Gujarat's Ambaji Shaktipeeth will witness pilgrims from across the country, especially from Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh.
More than 30 lakh devotees are expected to visit Ambaji this week. At present, processions of devotees are already being seen on roads leading to the temple.
This year, due to a lunar eclipse on September 7, darshan will be closed after 5 pm.
Theme-based lighting inspired by the divine form of Mataji has been installed across the holy town, creating a unified and majestic atmosphere throughout.
The main temple has been beautifully decorated with flowers, while at night the glowing lights at Chachar Chowk will mesmerise devotees.
To ensure smooth darshan, special arrangements have been made. Railings have been installed from the bus stand up to the temple, with drinking water provided along the queue.
For devotees exiting after darshan, arrangements have been made through Ambaji Shaktidwar (Pilgrims’ Plaza), Gate No 7 near Havanshala, and Gate No 8 towards Bheravji Temple.
Special facilities have been arranged for devotees offering Dandvat Pranam, as well as for the disabled, wheelchair users, senior citizens, and pregnant women – who will be taken directly from the bus stand to the temple bypassing the main line. Wheelchair and electric vehicle (e-rickshaw) services have been provided from the darshan entry point to the temple.
This year, four waterproof domes have been set up, with around 1,200 beds for devotees. These multipurpose domes also include modern amenities like toilets, CCTV cameras, mobile charging facilities, housekeeping services, signage, floor carpets, leg poles, drinking water, electrification, firefighting equipment, and luggage storage facilities.
For the first time, a grand drone light show with 400 drones will be organised at the fair.
The main attraction will be held on September 3 and 4 at 8.30 pm, where colourful drones in the night sky will form stunning images of Mataji’s temple, inscriptions of ‘Jai Mataji,’ the trishul, and other symbols of divine power.
The area for the fair spans 1,83,855 sq m, with about 35 parking lots that can accommodate over 22,541 vehicles. On Danta Road, 23 parking sites have been set up, and 12 on Hadad Road.
Devotees can pre-book parking through the Show My Parking mobile application. From the parking grounds, the temple trust will provide free mini-bus shuttle services to and from the temple.
Twenty-eight prasad distribution centers will operate during the fair. Around 1,000–1,200 ghans (batches) of prasad will be prepared, with each ghan weighing 326.7 kg. About 750 people will prepare the prasad, and more than 3 million prasad packets will be distributed.
Free meals will be provided at four different sites for devotees.
For security, a three-tier police arrangement with 5,000 personnel has been deployed. Over 332 CCTV cameras will monitor the entire fair.
