220 works of water storage have been completed in Vadodara district under Sujalam Sufalam Jal Abhiyan 2021

Following the success of the last three years under the Sujalam Sufalam Jal Abhiyan, the campaign was conducted across the state this year too and has yielded positive results. In Vadodara district about 220 works of water storage and were carried out under this campaign.

Under this campaign, a total of 220 works including 133 works under MGNREGA have been completed by Water Resources Department, Municipalities, Forest and Environment Department and District Rural Development Agency in Vadodara district. During this campaign cleaning, deepening of the lake, leveling of the land, farm pond, check dam, canal desilting works were undertaken. As a result, 20218 man-days of employment were created. Not only that, in the midst of the Corona epidemic, laborers in the villages also found employment near their home.

The works carried out in Vadodara district provided 1,33,983 cubic meters of soil excavation and 20218 days of employment. Labours were paid a salary of Rs 14.85 lakh. 14835 cubic meters of soil was excavated through the works carried out by the District Rural Development Agency.

It may be mentioned here that under Sujalam Sufalam Jal Abhiyan-2020, a total of 279 works of deepening of lakes, farm ponds / forest ponds, canal desilting, earthworks and other types of works were completed in Vadodara district. In which about 17,764 jobs were generated. While 4,76,000 cubic meters of clay work was completed which increased the storage capacity of 476 million liters of water.

Ground water will be higher due to the water storage works in the district.
