A long-standing dispute over agricultural land between two families resulted in a gory murder of a 65-year-old man who was crushed to death under the wheels of a tractor by his 20-year-old nephew in Botad district.

The accused, Jaydeep Raghvani, also ran over the tractor on his uncle Ganesh Raghvani's 71-year-old wife Baghaben who is fighting for life due to critical head injuries in a hospital in a private hospital in Bhavnagar.

While the incident happened in Dhrufaniya village on Tuesday, Raghvani succumbed during treatment in Ahmedabad's SVP Hospital.

Jaydeep first rammed his tractor into the bike on which the old couple were going to the farm.

When they fell down, he ran the tractor's wheels over them.

The 20-year-old was filled with so much rage that he did not stop after running over them once, but repeatedly crushed them under the vehicle, said police.

Someone informed the victims' son Ramesh who rushed there and took his parents to a local hospital from where they were shifted to Bhavnagar due to severe injuries.

Raghvani was referred to Ahmedabad as his condition worsened.

Ramesh filed a complaint against Jaydeep who has been booked for murder. Ramesh has two brothers and two sisters.
