Around 12 persons stuck inside the newly started lift inside Pramukh Swami Town Hall in Padra. People arrived to attend the program of food distribution and trapped after overloading. They were all rescued after cutting down the doors by the administration staff. Waghodia MLA Madhu Shrivastav also reached there and review the rescue operation.
The Seva Setu program is being celebrated by the state government and under this a food distribution program was held in Padra taluka of Vadodara district. A large number of people joined the program organized at Padra Pramukh Swami Town Hall.
Twelve people, including women, were trapped in the elevator, which was overcrowded. Attempts were made to evacuate those trapped in the elevator and finally after cutting down the door they were successfully rescued. Waghodia MLA Madhu Shrivastav who remain present at the program rushed to the spot and review the rescue efforts.
"It was a horrific experience as we are unable to breathe and hence have to broke the glass. Secondly heavy sweating makes difficult to stand. After nearly 30 minutes we were rescued and had a sigh of relief, said one of the person stuck inside the lift.
