The bullet train track laying work came to a screeching halt for some time on Monday.

A 12-foot-long crocodile gave the workers the scare of their life when they were working on the tracks in Karjan taluka located about 35km from Vadodara city.

The crocodile was rescued by the forest department after a daring operation that went on for over an hour.

People working on the bullet train project reached the spot in Pingalwada village on Monday morning. Little did they know that a fully-grown crocodile would be waiting for them at the site.

The reptile was stuck between two big containers after it fell from a height. When some workers walked by, the crocodile opened its dreaded jaws.

It was handed over to the forest department later. The reptile suffered minor injuries for which it was given treatment.
