Vidya Balan has addressed the spread of a viral video featuring her likeness, clarifying that it is AI-generated and does not reflect her views or work.
Taking to Instagram, she issued a strong statement urging people to verify content before sharing and to be mindful of misleading AI-generated material.
Previously, several Indian celebrities, such as Rashmika Mandanna, Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, Aamir Khan, Ranveer Singh, and Sachin Tendulkar, have been targeted by deepfake technology.
Vidya was most recently seen in the romantic comedy Do Aur Do Pyaar, which also starred Pratik Gandhi. Directed by Shirsha Guha Thakurta, the film featured Ileana D'Cruz and Sendhil Ramamurthy. It explored modern relationships, focusing on a couple on the verge of breaking up who become involved with two outsiders.
As they prepare to reveal their secrets and part ways, life takes an unexpected turn. While the film received positive reviews, it struggled at the box office, earning just ₹5.5 crore worldwide.
Vidya also appeared in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, alongside Kartik Aaryan, Madhuri Dixit, and Triptii Dimri. Released during Diwali last year, the film was a box-office hit.
