Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji win their first National Film Awards for Jawan and Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway, respectively, at the 71st National Film Awards ceremony in New Delhi.

Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji received their first-ever National Film Awards on Tuesday in a prestigious ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The awards were presented by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu.

Rani Mukerji was honoured with the Best Actress award for her powerful and emotionally charged performance in Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway, a film that garnered widespread critical acclaim.

Shah Rukh Khan received the Best Actor award for his role in Jawan, marking his first National Award in a career spanning over three decades. He shared the award with Vikrant Massey, who was also recognised in the Best Actor category for his outstanding performance in 12th Fail.

Playback singer Shilpa Rao won the Best Female Playback Singer award for the song Chaleya from Jawan. In a heartfelt statement, Rao said, “This win is not my own. The National Award belongs to all those who stood by me, and to Jamshedpur, my hometown that shaped me and continues to be my anchor.”

The Gujarati film Vash was named Best Gujarati Language Film, while actress Janki Bodiwala received the Best Supporting Actress award for her role in the film.

The 71st National Film Awards celebrated a diverse range of talent across Indian cinema, recognising both seasoned performers and emerging artists.
