Rajinikanth’s latest blockbuster Coolie has taken the global box office by storm, emerging as the number one film in the world just four days after its release. The film has outperformed major international titles including Weapons, Nobody 2, and even the highly anticipated War 2 starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR.
Coolie opened with a record-breaking ₹151 crore worldwide, marking the biggest opening of Rajinikanth’s career, and quickly crossed the ₹300 crore mark globally within just three days. By day four, it had reportedly earned around ₹350 crore worldwide and over ₹194 crore net in India alone.
The film’s success has been driven by strong audience turnout, particularly in Tamil-speaking regions, with evening show occupancies reaching up to 76%. It has not only topped domestic charts but also beaten Hollywood and anime films internationally.
In comparison, War 2 earned around ₹210–276 crore globally, placing Coolie well ahead. The film has now become Rajinikanth’s third highest-grossing film ever, following 2.0 and Jailer, and is on track to enter the ₹600 crore club, a rare feat in Indian cinema. Coolie's box office performance is being hailed as a historic moment for Tamil films on the global stage.
