Popular actor R. Madhavan has been nominated as the new president of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) and chairman of its governing council. He will replace noted filmmaker Shekhar Kapur.
Union minister Anurag Thakur took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce the appointment and congratulate the actor-director.
Replying to the Union minister's tweet, the actor said he will do his best to live up to the expectations.
Madhavan's directorial debut, Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, had won the Natonal Award for the best feature film recently.
