Madhuri Dixit, a Bollywood actress, recently uploaded a social media post in honour of her guru, Kathak great Pandit Birju Maharaj, who died on January 17 at the age of 84.
The 'Hum Aapke Hain Koun' actor took to Instagram to post a tale with a film of Pandit Birju and Madhuri performing on stage together.
Along with the video, she wrote, "You`ve left memories that will forever remain etched in our hearts, Maharajji. The one who redefined every mudra, every single expression the one who redefined dance itself for me. Here`s remembering everyone`s favourite Pandit Birju Maharaj."
Pandit Birju Maharaj died in the early hours of January 17 after having a heart attack. He was a well-known classical vocalist and had donated his voice to various films in addition to being a well-known Kathak dancer.
Maharaj had previously worked with Madhuri in films such as 'Dil Toh Pagal Hai,' 'Devdas,' and 'Dedh Ishqiya.' They worked on 'Devdas' songs 'Kaahe Chhed Mohe' and 'Dedh Ishqiya' songs 'Jagaave Saari Raina'.
He taught her the delicate and complicated dance routines that have made Madhuri famous throughout the country and around the world.
