Now, an interesting development has surfaced that should excite fans of the actor and the director helming it.

The Interstellar, Mud and Dallas Buyers Club actor will lead The Rage, the next project of director Paul Greengrass (The Bourne Ultimatum, United 93).

Interestingly, McConaughey has also shot another Greengrass film, The Lost Bus, for Apple.

As per Deadline, The Rage is set during the Peasants’ Revolt (or the Wat Tyler Rebellion), a major uprising that occurred in 1381 across large parts of England, a result of the socio-economic and political tensions that arose as a result of the Black Death in the 1340s and the high taxation caused by the Hundred Years' War.

It's not yet known what role the actor will play, but speculation points to the character of Wat Tyler, a farmer and the legendary man who leads the rebellion.

Greengrass is producing it with Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions and Joanna Kaye. Blum is also the producer of The Lost Bus, the aforementioned second McConaughey-Greengrass film.

The Lost Bus has Greengrass sharing a screenplay credit with Brad Ingelsby. Their script is based on the 2021 book "Paradise: One Town's Struggle to Survive an American Wildfire" by Lizzie Johnson.

Also starring America Ferrera, Yul Vazquez, and Ashlie Atkinson, The Lost Bus will have McConaughey playing a man who takes it upon himself to drive a bus carrying a schoolteacher and her children to safety amidst the 2018 Camp Fire, said to be the deadliest and most destructive wildfire in California history.

McConaughey also has in his upcoming lineup, The Rivals of Amziah King, written and directed by Andrew Patterson, who is known for the critically acclaimed indie sci-fi film The Vast of Night.
