Despite Suriya's Jai Bhim and Mohanlal's Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham not making the cut, Writing With Fire, a documentary about Dalit women journalists, has received an Oscar nomination. During the 94th Academy Awards Nominations announcement on Tuesday, February 8, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences nominated the Indian documentary in the Best Documentary Feature category.

OSCAR NOMINATION FOR INDIA'S WRITING WITH FIRE BAGS

Along with Ascension, Attica, Flee, and Summer of Soul, India's Writing With Fire has been nominated for Best Documentary Feature (...Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised).

Team Writing With Fire's reaction to the nomination was also shared on the Academy Awards' official Twitter account.

Writing With Fire, directed by debutantes RIntu Thomas and Sushmit Ghosh, traces the birth of India's only Dalit women-run newspaper, Khabar Lahariya. Writing With Fire, led by Meera, tells the narrative of a group of aspiring Dalit wonder women as they transition from print to digital media in today's changing times.

NOMINATIONS FOR THE OSCARS IN 2022 HAVE BEEN ANNOUNCED.

With several nominations, Dune, The Power of the Dog, Belfast, and The West Side Story lead the 94th Academy Awards nominations. Belfast, CODA, Don't Look Up, Drive My Car, Dune, King Richard, Licorice Pizza, Nightmare Alley, The Power of the Dog, and West Side Story are among the ten films nominated for Best Picture. Javier Bardem (Being the Ricardos), Benedict Cumberbatch (The Power of the Dog), Andrew Garfield (Tick, Tick Boom! ), Will Smith (King Richard), and Denzel Washington (The Tragedy of Macbeth) will compete in the Best Actor in a Leading Role category. Jessica Chastain (The Eyes of Tammy Faye), Olivia Colman (The Lost Daughter), Penélope Cruz (Parallel Mothers), Nicole Kidman (Being the Ricardos), or Kristen Stewart can win Best Actress in a Leading Role (Spencer).

On March 27, the Academy Awards will be held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
