Actress-politician Hema Malini has shared a deeply emotional tribute following the passing of her husband and legendary Bollywood icon Dharmendra, calling him her “everything” and reflecting on their decades of togetherness.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Hema Malini posted a heartfelt note along with a series of nostalgic photographs, remembering Dharmendra not just as a celebrated actor but as the pillar of her personal life.
In her message, she wrote:
“Dharam ji. He was many things to me. Loving Husband, adoring Father of our two girls, Esha & Ahaana, Friend, Philosopher, Guide, Poet, my ‘go to’ person in all times of need — in fact, he was everything to me!”
She added that Dharmendra had always been affectionate towards her family members and held a special place in everyone’s hearts because of his warm and friendly nature.
“A unique icon unequalled among legends”
Hema Malini praised Dharmendra’s extraordinary legacy, noting:
“As a public personality, his talent, his humility in spite of his popularity, and his universal appeal set him apart as a unique icon unequalled among all the legends. His enduring fame and achievements in the film industry will last forever.”
Reflecting on her loss, she said her grief was “indescribable” and the void left behind would remain for the rest of her life.
“After years of togetherness, I am left with myriad memories to relive the many special moments…” she wrote.
She captioned the photos: “Togetherness over the years — always there for us. Some special moments..”
Dharmendra's final days
Dharmendra breathed his last on November 24. The veteran actor had earlier been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai after complaining of breathlessness. He was discharged on November 12 and was recovering at home before his demise.
Posthumous release
On the professional front, Dharmendra will be seen posthumously in ‘Ikkis’, directed by Sriram Raghavan. The war drama stars Agastya Nanda and Simar Bhatia, and is based on the life of Arun Khetarpal, the youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra.
