The Gujarat government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to host the prestigious Filmfare Awards in the state for the second time. The signing ceremony took place on Thursday in Gandhinagar in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, filmmaker Karan Johar, actor Vikrant Massey, and other notable dignitaries.

During the event, the very first edition of Filmfare magazine from 1952 was presented to CM Patel. The iconic Filmfare trophy — affectionately known as "The Black Lady" — was also showcased.

Actor Vikrant Massey spoke about his personal ties to Gujarat, saying, “Gujarat has been my home. I lived in Vadodara in 2007 and 2008. Last year, I received my first Filmfare Award right here in the state.”

Filmmaker Karan Johar reflected on the significance of the awards, stating, “Filmfare goes beyond just being an award. Last year, I had the privilege of hosting it here in Gujarat. The experience was so heartfelt and memorable that we’re thrilled to return for the 70th year celebration.”

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel highlighted the state’s growing focus on cinematic tourism. “The government has launched a cinematic tourism policy to promote Gujarat as a film-friendly destination. The state is steadily emerging as a major hub for the film industry and broader economic activities,” he said.

This marks the second consecutive year that Gujarat will host one of the Indian film industry’s most celebrated events, further solidifying the state’s position on the cinematic map.
