In an exclusive interview, Hashmi revealed that the script has been in development for two years, ensuring a robust continuation of the action-crime drama. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on April 3, 2026.
Hashmi announced Awarapan 2 on his 46th birthday in March 2025, releasing a teaser that revisited iconic visuals from the original, including his character Shivam on a boat against a sunset skyline, paired with the beloved song ‘Tera Mera Rishta.’
The teaser, shared across social media, sparked a wave of enthusiasm among fans who have championed a sequel to the Mohit Suri-directed film, which starred Hashmi, Shriya Saran, Mrinalini Sharma, and Ashutosh Rana.
Awarapan 2 will be directed by Nitin Kakkar, with the script penned by Bilal Siddiqi.
Produced by Mukesh Bhatt under Vishesh Films, the sequel aims to honour the original’s legacy, which followed hitman Shivam’s quest for redemption, lauded for its gripping plot and Pritam’s evocative soundtrack.
As preparations for Awarapan 2 ramp up, Hashmi is promoting his latest film, Ground Zero, which opened in theatres on 25 April 2025.
