Actor Dinesh Phadnis, Fredericks of TV show 'CID', dies at 57

Actor Dinesh Phadnis, popular for essaying the role of Fredericks in the popular television show CID, passed away on Tuesday, at the age of 57. According to reports, Phadnis breathed his last at Mumbai's Tunga hospital where he was being treated for liver ailment.

Sharing an update, his CID co-star Dayanand Shetty who played Daya on the long-running show, told Indian Express that the actor died of multiple organ failure. His last rites will be held on Tuesday at a crematorium in Mumbai.

It was earlier reported that Phadnis had suffered a heart attack on Sunday. But Shetty clarified to Pinkvilla that his co-star was receiving treatment for “some other ailment that affected his liver.”

Besides essaying the light-hearted Fredericks on the detective show for two decades, Phadnis was also seen in cameo roles in popular sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. The actor also featured in Bollywood films like Sarfarosh and Super 30.
