The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) primary education committee will commence education for classes 10 and 12 soon.

The corporation will start class 10 from the next academic year and class 12 in the coming years, reported sources.

Last year, the committee decided to begin classes for grade nine across four schools.

However, with the academic year ending in 2024, the fate of these students will remain uncertain if they would like to continue studying in class 10.

Hence, the civic body decided to start class 10 in four schools.

As many as 225 students are currently studying in class 9 across the four schools run by VMC. Furthermore, four principals have been appointed to run these schools.

Pandya added that the committee will hire more staff when required. “In the long run, our idea is to have at least one model school that provides education from nursery to class 12 with good infrastructure,” he added. VMC has also started six English medium schools which include two schools comprising of nursery to class 8, two running from class 6, and two running only nursery classes.

Meanwhile, the Gujarat state government has announced modifications in class 10 and 12 board exams starting from the academic session 2023–24. The changes have been made in the Gujarat Class 10, and 12 examination patterns keeping in mind the National Education Policy 2020.
