The University Grants Commission (UGC) has taken a firm stance against edtech companies and colleges that offer degrees in partnership with foreign universities that haven't received its approval.
Furthermore, to safeguard their educational pursuits, students are urged to exercise caution and avoid programmes offered by edtech companies or colleges partnered with universities lacking UGC recognition. These degrees will not be valid and may hinder future career prospects.
Joshi mentioned that the UGC has observed certain edtech companies advertising degree and diploma programmes online through newspapers, social media, and television, in collaboration with various foreign universities and institutions.
Joshi advises students and the public to exercise caution, emphasising that any enrollment in such courses will be at their own risk.
