President Droupadi Murmu is all set to present the National Teachers' Award 2023 to 75 deserving teachers who have excelled in their field. 

The prestigious event will take place at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, as announced by the Union Ministry of Education on September 5, 2023.

India annually observes September 5 as National Teachers' Day, commemorating the birth anniversary of the former President of India, Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. 

The National Teachers' Award aims to recognise and celebrate the exceptional contributions of teachers across the nation.

It honours educators who have not only elevated the quality of education but also enriched the lives of their students through unwavering dedication.

Methods, research, community engagement, and pioneering educational work, the nomination process was conducted online to encourage maximum participation from the public (Jan Bhagidari). 

The union education minister has constituted three separate Independent National juries comprising eminent individuals for the selection of these outstanding teachers.

Each National Teachers' Award recipient will be presented with a certificate of merit, a cash prize of Rs. 50,000, and a silver medal.

Additionally, awardees will have the unique opportunity to engage with the Prime Minister.

The Department of School Education and Literacy, under the Ministry of Education, has been organising a national-level event on Teachers' Day each year.

This event serves as a platform to confer National Awards upon the most distinguished teachers in the country, selected through a rigorous and transparent selection process.
