The General Education Minister of Kerala, V. Sivankutty, has announced that May 25 will be designated as a clean-up day in schools throughout the state.

The minister made this announcement during a meeting convened for worker, women, and youth organisations.

He urged all organisations to participate in sanitation activities.

Sivankutty noted that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the statewide Praveshanolsavam (ceremony marking the beginning of the new academic year) for Higher Secondary Schools at the Elamakkara Government High Secondary School in Ernakulam.

On the same day, Praveshanolsavams will take place in all schools across the state.

The minister also disclosed that comprehensive guidelines regarding school admissions have been issued to all Education Officers.

He noted that the implementation of these guidelines is underway.

Additionally, pre-monsoon sanitation activities are to be carried out. 

With schools being closed, the likelihood of reptiles being present is higher. 

The minister stressed the importance of conducting meticulous inspections to ensure the absence of any such creatures that could pose a threat to students.
