The Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT-B) has signed an MoU with Japan’s Tohoku University to establish the IIT Bombay-Tohoku University Joint Academic & Research programme.
This academic and research initiative will offer collaborative Master’s and PhD programmes, providing students with opportunities for dual mentorship, access to world-class resources, and immersion in the academic ecosystems of two world-class institutions.
The programme may start with a dual degree initiative for research purpose and may evolve as a Joint institute over a period of time once the necessary approvals are received from both the senate and government.
This collaboration is set to commence at the earliest, with both institutions eager to implement their vision of cutting-edge academic and research programs that address global challenges.
This initiative exemplifies IIT Bombay’s commitment to fostering global partnerships and advancing academic excellence.
This MoU signing ceremony was graced by senior delegations from both universities. Dr Sharad Kumar Saraf, Chairman of the Board of Governors at IIT Bombay, and Prof Shireesh B. Kedare, Director of IIT Bombay, exchanged the MOU with the Prof Teiji Tominaga, President of Tohoku University, Japan marking a new chapter in their enduring partnership.
