The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) has issued rules for Class 11 students opting for Science streams – group A (non medical) and group AB (both biology and maths).
As per the rules issued by GSHSEB on Thursday, the students should have cleared basic maths subject in their Class 10 board examination with not less than 33 per cent marks, excluding any grace marks, for admission to Class 11.
Since 2021-22, Class 10 students are made to appear for two sets of mathematics subjects – basic and standard.
Further, the board has directed schools to conduct a separate test of 30 marks based on standard maths subject to assess the ability and aptitude of students.
The test will have 15 multiple-choice questions and 15 subjective questions and students will have to score 33 per cent marks to be eligible for admission in Class 11 A or AB groups.
Besides, the schools have been asked to arrange a personal meeting with the students to analyse their performance from Classes 6 to 10. Also, schools have been asked to regularly conduct tests for Mathematics in Class 11.
These rules have to be informed to parents and students seeking admission in Class 11 Science streams, the board said.
