Issued instructions to follow the Election Commission guidelines
The Election Commission of India has issued some guidelines under the concept of Accessible Election and make it as easy as possible for senior citizens, disabled and covid 19 absentee voters to cast their votes. Added to this is the matter of providing postal voting facility to Covid patients in view of the current Corona crisis.
Vadodara District Election Officer and Collector Shalini Agarwal held an online meeting with the concerned officials to facilitate the voting of accessible category voters with a focus on Assembly by-elections of 147 Karjan seat. Divyang, elderly above 80 years and Corona patients are incuded in this category. The Election Commission has made a guideline to make necessary arrangements for the people of Corona, including the facility of postal voting to make it easier for these people to vote and to preserve their right to vote.
The District Electoral Officer instructed the officers concerned to make precise pre-preparation and outline the arrangements for the necessary arrangements so that these people could cast their votes easily. The electoral system is committed to make all efforts for the purpose of enabling maximum number of voters to cast their votes, said the Collector. Representatives of the Handicapped, Deaf and Blind Mandals were also included in the online meeting. Their suggestions are also welcome and instructions for further action were given by the Collector and the District Election Officer.
The meeting was attended by Deputy District Election Officer RP Joshi, Nodal Officer of Accessible Election, Social Security Officer and other concerned officials.
