Officer on Special Duty and Education Secretary Dr. Vinod Rao held a consultation meeting with District Collector Shalini Agarwal, Municipal Commissioner P Swaroop, Commissioner of Police R.B. Brahmbhatt as well as field level officials of the corporation, district administration and police system. The meeting was to discussed measures to prevent, slow down and control the spread of covid based on the experience of these field officers.



In the meeting strategies were discussed for controlling covid transition through the balance of enforcement and awareness. It also discussed the need for more rigorous enforcement of the rules, including wearing masks and maintaining social distance.

As per the decision all the offices will work in collaboration to fight the situation. 24 Joint Enforcement Team two each in all 12 wards of VMC and four flying squads, one each in four zones is formed by the administration.

Both JET and Flying Squad will ensure about observing Covid 19 rules at all places in the city, maintain social distancing and people wearing masks in public places. They also fine people for violations of rules.

10 to 15 hotspots will be identified in every ward and the JET will work in these spots continuously. The flying squad will work in big malls, multiplexes, party plots, banquet halls, marriage halls and atithigruhs in their zones. If needed the teams can seal the premises or other things as part of strict action.

The teams will be in place for 15 days or more as per needed and will be continuously under monitor by zonal deputy municipal commissioner and Director (ER and SA).

Dr. Rao said that effective planning in terms of covid treatment is going in Vadodara in view of hospital and covid management.
Currently approximately 2200 patients of Covid are being treated in government and private hospitals. At present these hospitals have a capacity of 5500 beds which is planned to be increased to 7 thousand. Occupancy is about 40 percent of the beds currently available.

There are 506 ventilators which will be increased to more than 600. At present 240 patients are undergoing ventilator treatment against 506. In order to prevent the spread of covid, it is necessary to consult with the officials of various agencies working at the field level.
