Covid-19 Positive Amitabh Bachchan stable with mild symptoms, Security beefed up near Nanavati Hospital

Amitabh Bachchan, who along with his son Abhishek, was admitted to Nanavati hospital on Saturday after testing positive for Covid-19, is in a stable condition with mild symptoms, the hospital said on Sunday.

Health Minister Rajesh Tope, in a statement, also said that the two are in a stable condition. He said Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan took a rapid antigen test for Coronavirus after showing mild symptoms. “Since senior Bachchan is also co-morbid, they chose hospitalisation,” Tope said. He also said that the swab test of the Bachchan family is awaited and will come by Monday morning.

Aishwarya Rai, Aaradhya and Jaya Bachchan were also tested, but their report was negative. However, their swab test results are still awaited. In a statement, the Public Relation Officer of Nanavati Super Speciality Hospital, Mumbai, said that Amitabh Bachchan is currently admitted in the isolation unit of the hospital.

Mumbai Police have beefed up security outside the Nanavati Hospital as well as outside the megastar’s two bungalows in Juhu area. After the Bachchans on Saturday said they tested positive for coronavirus and were admitted to hospital, some people tried to gather outside the medical facility located in Vile Parle (West), but they were asked to leave and not allowed to stand on the road, a police official said.
