Children pulls Jagannathji Rath in Prince Ashokaraje School Vadodara

Tradition intact for years

Like every year little Students of Prince Ashokaraje Gaekwad School in Vadodara pulled the rath of Lord Jagannath, Devi Subhadra and Bhagwan Balram inside the school compound. The students dressed in traditional dress chants the slogans of Hari Bol and pulled the Rath of daieties with equal enthusiasm. This is probably the only school in Vadodara where the little children pulled the Rath on the ocassion of Rathayatra.

The temple of Lord Jagannath on the school campus is a mini replica of the great Jagannath temple of Puri. In consonances with the celebrated Jagannath Rath Yatra conducted at Puri, the school Lord Jagannath temple too organizes Rath Yatra, on the same day, when the Puri Rath Yatra takes place.

The teachers, the students and their parents are all involved in organizing the Jagannath Rath Yatra. This practice is going on for years and continue the tradition till date.

This year 1200 students along with their parents involved in celebrating Rathayatra inside the school campus. The Rath started moving from the temple and hauled to the school main building complex by the students only. With the traditional beats of dhol and chants of Hari Bol the school premises turns devine.
