Resident of Paldi in Ahmedabad, Deepak Ramesh Singh Rajput and Ramji Ashabhai Rathore have a criminal history.  Sometime ago the duo was lodged in Rajkot Jail under PASA and the the two got a trick from another accused to earn money through short cut.  After their release Deepak and Ramji printed a form in Hindi in name Unity Foundation and started distributing them through agents in the interiors of Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh as women were soft targets. They announced various interest free government loans to them.

Deepak and Ramji first advertised in the paper to get interest-free loans to target women in the interiors of Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh and then lure poor and widowed women to get interest free government loans under various schemes through agents. When convinced they charged Rs. 1700  per form from the victims and told them about interest free loan of Rs. 1 lakh against it. They also lured them about paying salary and commission if they fill out more forms to become an agent of the Unity Foundation. Thus in three states so far they have collected money from two and half lakhs women total in crores.

The gang was very active in three states, including Gujarat and also advertised in the paper to provide interest-free government loans. A victim from Lunawad, who was a victim of the gang, had given in written to the Vadodara police commissioner with a paper cutting, in which it was stated that Rs.  1700 per form was collected for 150 forms and cheated of Rs. 2.55 lakh by the Unity Foundation. Taking the matter seriously, the investigation of the whole matter was handed over to the PCB.  Deepak Rajput and Ramji Rathore, the masterminds of the Unity Foundation, were picked up after conducting an operation with the help of Rajasthan, Jhalod and Ahmedabad police.  Police also found a pistol in their possession.  A man named Mela who gave the pistol has also been arrested under the Arms Act.

In this regard, PCB PI Rajesh Kanmia said,  the documents which have been seized after the arrest of Deepak Rajut and Ramji Rathore, the masterminds of Unity Foundation, so far revealed fraud of crores during the investigation. In view of the seriousness an offense under the GPID Act has been registered against the accused of Unity Foundation as per the instructions of the Commissioner of Police.  The accused are unlikely to get bail after the offence registered under the GPID Act.

Cheating of crores comes out in the investigation so far and the accused cannot get bail till the amount is returned to the women. The matter will be taken up in a special court and a special public prosecutor will also be appointed, and the case will run under the supervision of the collector, which will also include the appointment of an SDM and a chartered accountant. CID Crime also has special supervision in it.
